Following the introduction of origin surcharging, we’re having to make an emergency behaviour change to our wholesale platform where numbers are set to call forward.
Previously, the incoming caller ID was preserved, but given how frequently these are invalid, we will now be setting the called DDI as the caller on the forwarded leg where the actual caller ID is invalid or non-UK. This is how traditional call forward would have worked in an ISDN world.
This change, which will be rolled out later this evening, will prevent customers falling foul of loss-protection through no fault of their own (or ours) due to invalid CLI on the inward leg, and enables us to maintain our position of not passing on dirty surcharges.
Apologies for the short notice.
