As has been said many times on this blog, Simwood has a depth of interconnect in the UK which rivals the largest of our competitors, and exceeds any of our peer group. Put another way, we’re directly interconnected with anybody who is anybody (and Magrathea) such that your calls flow in the most resilient highest quality manner. There can, by definition, be no greater quality than delivering traffic directly to its destination over a private interconnect. Simwood also uniquely leverages any HD codecs that may be available on that destination network for optimal user experience.
We’re therefore delighted to say that after a very long five years, our interconnect with UK MNO Three is live. This competes the full deck of major UK mobile operators which I believe puts us in such a small group, which even a captured Agincourt archer could count on one hand. In fact, our interconnect isn’t just with Three UK, it is with HGC Global, delivering direct access to their entire global footprint to our customers.
Beyond quality and security benefits, direct interconnection also brings economic benefits which we’re always keen to pass on. Our rate sheets differentiate between UK Mobile networks who are “Simwood Peers” and those who are “Full transit”, the former being more aggressively priced. Three has until now been classified as “Full Transit”, but in the next rate update will move to “Simwood Peers” for those on that level of aggregation.
While we are now interconnected about as deeply as makes economic sense in the UK, we continue to sign bilaterals around the world, not only bringing traffic into the UK but expanding our own footprint and depth of interconnect globally. We hope our customers are noticing the benefits of this.
