Given the news flow, we felt it was appropriate to update you on where we were with the preparations due to the risk of COVID-19 virus (“coronavirus”).
Whilst we hope things will not escalate and affect any of our team, we believe we’re prepared if they do and our services can continue uninterrupted. A lot of thought has gone into this as part of the Business Continuity elements of our ISO27001:2013 certification.
We’re very fortunate to be in a business where we can continue operating without direct face-to-face contact with people, and almost all functions can be carried out from anywhere with internet access. We already work across two offices (Bristol and Birmingham) and have a number of staff who work remotely, from multiple countries.
Colleagues have always been able to work remotely where appropriate to their role, but from Monday the entire workforce will be able to work remotely if required. This enables them to self-isolate as advised and caters for a scenario where one or both our offices are inaccessible.
Of course some physical access to equipment is required from time to time, but as we operate from multiple sites in multiple geographies, we believe we can handle such access being impaired as well.
SimCon will proceed as planned next week unless advice beforehand suggests otherwise. We will be operating with a higher level of bio-security though, with hand-sanitisation on every table and regular disinfection of common surfaces.
Naturally, we hope all this is unnecessary and wish everyone well!
