After the initial deadline for LOA changes being pushed back a month, the relevant changes have been made and the new version will be in circulation from TODAY (Monday 7th September 2020).
For those of you who have kept up with the Porting Letters of Authorisation miniseries, you may have noticed a variety of changes from the LOA format we’ve used for years, to the initially published version intended to go live early August, to the one we have now come to.
The suggestion to change the LOA format was submitted for a few reasons:
- Having slight differences between geographic and non-geographic porting LOAs seemed silly!
- The previous format was more of a guideline, and thus many providers created LOAs in many different formats, making it far more complicated to validate.
- Some fields in the “old” LOA were repeated unnecessarily, which in reality just gave Losing Providers the ability to reject more LOAs. (Many of you are aware that even the largest of CPs have rejected LOAs for pages not being numbered!).
These reasons (amongst others) have been reflected in the new format, which intends to make the whole LOA process a little bit easier.
You can find more information regarding the new LOA (including a completed example and a downloadable template) here, and if you have any questions about this or porting in general, we will be very pleased to answer them – please contact us at team@simwood.com.
