The short version: this site stores your cookie choice itself (so we don't ask you twice), and nothing else, unless you say yes to analytics. If you say yes, we load a single third-party analytics tool to see, in aggregate, what's working — details in section 3. We don't enable any advertising or cross-device tracking features, and we never sell your data.
This policy covers cookies and similar storage technologies (such as your browser's local storage) used on simwood.com. It doesn't cover the wider handling of personal data we collect elsewhere, such as through our sales or support channels — that's covered by our Privacy Policy.
The only thing this site stores without asking is your cookie choice itself, in your browser's local storage:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sw-consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we don't show the banner on every visit. | Until you clear your browser's site data, or use the control in section 4 below. |
This is exempt from consent under UK PECR because it's technically necessary to provide the very preference you're setting — there's no analytics or tracking purpose behind it.
Nothing analytics-related loads until you click "Fine by me" on the cookie banner. That single click is what loads Google Tag Manager, which in turn loads Google Analytics — there's no further prompt after it.
We use this solely to understand aggregate site usage (which pages get visited, roughly how, from where) so we can improve the site. We don't enable Google's optional advertising or cross-device tracking features (such as Google Signals or linking to Google Ads), and we don't sell or share this data with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
Google Analytics runs on Google's infrastructure and is subject to Google's own privacy policy. Some data processing happens outside the UK; Google provides its standard contractual safeguards for this. Once active, it will typically set first-party cookies (Google's Analytics cookies are usually named _ga and _ga_*) that persist for up to two years, though the exact set depends on Google's current implementation rather than anything we control directly.
If you click "Essential only" instead, none of this loads, and nothing analytics-related is stored on your device.
You can change your mind at any time — it's just as easy as making the choice in the first place:
You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser's own settings, though this site doesn't rely on cookies for anything to function, so there's nothing here that will break.
Where we process personal data (for example, an anonymised analytics identifier), you have rights under UK GDPR — to access, correct, delete, or object to that processing. These are set out in full in our Privacy Policy.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled something, we'd like the chance to sort it out directly — contact us using the details below. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, our supervisory authority. Simwood eSMS Limited is registered with the ICO under reference ZA205557.
We'll update this page if what the site actually does changes — for instance, if we add a new analytics or marketing tag. Check back here if you want the current picture; there's no separate change log.
